Introduction

The Adult Health Nursing major aims to improve health-related quality of life, from disease prevention and management to health promotion, by applying critical thinking processes to adults who are physically, psychosocially, culturally, and spiritually integrated as they interact with the environment. Adult Health Nursing provides the nursing knowledge and skills necessary for nursing adults and a value-oriented attitude centered on the person being cared for.

Adult Health Nursing courses are organized around the needs for survival (oxygen circulation, nutrition/excretion, cognitive control/sensory, exercise/rest). Theory lectures for each topic are conducted in the 1st and 2nd semesters of the 3rd year, and clinical training is conducted in the 2nd semester of the 3rd year and the 1st semester of the 4th year.

Clinical training aims to help students perform holistic nursing care for adult subjects with various health problems and is conducted at three hospitals affiliated with the Korea University Medicine. Courses associated with Adult Health Nursing include health assessment and practice, nursing and critical thinking, and bioethics. Students will be able to develop the ability to identify health indicators for each adult's needs through health history collection and physical examination, develop the ability to identify and intervene in the nursing needs of adults with health problems, and develop humanitarian morality to provide recipient-oriented care.
